An efficient and robust method to detect object centre

A new sequential algorithm which is suitable for detecting the centres of shapes that are order 2 rotational symmetric is presented. The time complexity and storage size of the algorithm are not influenced by the shape of object. This algorithm has a time complexity of O(n2no), where n is the image resolution and no the number of objects in the image. The definition and properties of rotational symmetry and their relation to this algorithm are discussed. The influence of convolution masks and threshold on pixel selection are analysed.
