Application of a distance-based method for analysing spatial patterns to the analysis of radionuclide tomograms

The application of a statistical pattern recognition technique to the analysis of radionuclide tomograms of the liver was investigated. A diagnostic test of aggregation was applied to the spatial distribution of pixels within each colour band of the image and the behaviour of a resulting statistic used as a classifier for distinguishing five types of liver disease. The results of a preliminary training procedure are presented and show good separation of the classes.
