Oligothetic characterisation of clusters

摘要

In this paper we describe a method for generating an oligothetic characterisation of clusters, i.e. a characterisation in terms of a few properties which are also meaningful in other contexts independent of the cluster analysis. We argue that such a characterisation enhances the usefulness of cluster analysis in scientific research. Several biological examples are given.
