Finite dimensional invariant subspaces of a linear transformation are constructed using the theory of the algebraic generalized inverse (AGI). In Section 2, it is shown how the generalized inverse of a linear transformation can be constructed using equivalence classes alone. In Section 3 the AGI is used to obtain the Jordan chains of the eigenvalues
