Spectral multigrid methods for domain decomposition problems using patching techniques

We consider spectral domain decomposition problems that use patching techniques. The resulting discrete systems are solved by the very efficient spectral multigrid methods. For relaxation we employ a preconditioned Richardson iteration. Effective preconditioning is achieved by one or more steps of a line relaxation method for the corresponding finite difference scheme. Numerical results are presented for rectangular and L-shaped domains. Furthermore, a cross point problem is considered.
