Existence of steady state solutions to an epidemic model with screening and their asymptotic stability

This paper is concerned with an analysis of an epidemic model of S-I-R type in which the active population is randomly screened. Possible stationary states—the infection-free state and the endemic state—are discussed. Conditions for existence of a unique endemic state are specified in some cases. A reproductive number R0 is determined. Local asymptotic stability of steady states is established.
