Recent developments in the numerical evaluation of particular solutions in the boundary element method

We survey recent work on the numerical evaluation of particular solutions in the boundary elements method (BEM), particularly rbf approximations and related mathematical convergence theory. Current research suggests, at least in R2, that the best choice for bases is the generalized multiquadrics. Numerical results are presented to support this observation.
