摘要
This paper presents a new way of estimating the discretization error in the boundary element method (BEM) based on the concept of local reanalysis (LR). The principle of LR is implemented for the particular case of two-dimensional potential problems, in an attempt to find a technique to calculate a cheaply-computable predicted solution to use in the evaluation of the quality of the boundary element results. The error estimators are defined from the difference between the BEM and LR solutions, which measures the “sensitivity” of the boundary element results to a local change in the mesh. An h-adaptive method using LR is developed and different numerical experiments are carried out to test its performance.
