Existence results for a class of diffusion-reaction problems

A general class of diffusion-reaction problems, which includes the diffusion of a substrate across a membrane which is facilitated by the presence of a carrier, is considered. A priori bounds for solutions are established and, by applying shooting techniques to solutions of appropriate initial value problems, existence results are obtained.
