A note on the decomposition method for operator equations

We show for linear operator equations that Adomian's decomposition method is equivalent to the classical method of successive approximations (Picard iterations). Hence, in contrast to previous claims, it is no more rapidly convergent than previous methods and may in fact be divergent.
