A note on modified Householder iterative method free from second derivatives for nonlinear equations

In Noor and Gupta [M.A. Noor, V. Gupta, Modified Householder iterative method free from second derivatives for nonlinear equations, Appl. Math. Comput. 190 (2) (2007) 1701–1706.], a new two-step predictor–corrector type iterative method free from second derivatives for solving nonlinear equations has been proposed. In this note, we show that the iterative method given by the authors has fifth-order convergence, not the fourth-order one as claimed in their work.
