A multigrid method for multiprocessors

A multigrid method is adapted for multiprocessor architectures by using separate processors to solve on different grids simultaneously. Convergence properties of the new method are discussed and compared with those of a standard multigrid method. Numerical results are presented on the Cray XMP-48.
