• In this work we study spatial public goods game where cooperators may decide which neighboring group to prefer instead of supporting them uniformly.
• According to their investment policy they select their most successful neighbor and focus external investments exclusively into the related group.
• This simple modification of the traditional model results in a surprising improvement of cooperation level.
• Based on our observations, it could be beneficial to concentrate individual efforts to reach a higher global wellbeing.
