On solvents and Lagrange interpolating λ-matrices

λ-matrices are encountered in the study of dynamical systems. This paper discusses some mathematical theory of λ-matrices, in particular solvents and interpolating λ-matrices. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solvents and the corresponding generalized Lagrange interpolating λ-matrices are given. The fundamental properties of the interpolating λ-matrices are given, as well as a computational scheme for the determination of the interpolating matrices.
