Decision support using the Intranet

摘要

The Intranet is rapidly leading to new ways of using, sharing and managing information in many organizations. This paper explores the role of Intranet from a new perspective—as a mechanism for supporting decision-making. This paper is divided into two parts. The first part of the paper uses the well-known data-dialog-model framework of decision support systems. It explores how an Intranet can be useful for rapid and flexible access to information required for decision-making. The second part of the paper presents a taxonomy of major types of Intranet-based decision support with illustrative examples.
