摘要

A survey of land and property information systems in England and Wales is analysed in order to classify the main features in their design. The early literature on land and property information systems concentrated on the issues surrounding the technical design. The issues of organizational support and use of the systems were generally neglected, with the exception of the National Gazetteer Pilot Study and the much more general literature on management information systems. The review presented here examines not only the existing land and property information systems but also systems which are no longer used. An analysis of the main design features suggests that the most successful systems base the Basic Spatial Unit on the rateable hereditament and choose the centroid as a cross-referencing mechanism.
