Online pictorial collections —An Australian development

Effective management of pictorial collections has long presented difficulties to information managers. A product has been developed in Australia which combines laser video disc with computer technology to provide online access to both image and description at the one workstation. Both research and public access software packages have been developed and are currently in use in libraries and museums. This article outlines the project which resulted in the development of this product —the Search Tech Pictorial Management System.
