Computer disaster: Systematic problems and their management

摘要

In 1987 a computer research laboratory at the Open University was destroyed by fire. This paper records that experience and abstracts from it some of the systematic problems experienced. Apart from the obvious technical problems, there are inevitable social problems as individuals and the institution come under new pressures and stress. Many of the problems are predictable, and some principles for their management are suggested.
