摘要
Executive information systems (EIS) are designed to monitor the internal and external environments in order to help upper management make more effective decisions. This recently introduced concept is examined by looking at the internal components of the EIS and how they can be effectively combined into one system. These systems perform multiple functions. It is imperative that the EIS is capable of quickly accessing relevant data. Also, the external environment must be incorporated in the decision-making process due to pressures coming from competitors, government, and many others. This paper examines how the EIS can effectively support decisions which will impact the profitability of the organization. Since there is a direct relationship here, the executive should use all available resources to make the right decisions. The EIS provides the user with the potential power to gain a competitive advantage.
