摘要

Repetitive strain injury (RSI) has become an increasingly common and painful result of the inappropriate implementation of information technology in offices. On the basis of existing literature and an empirical study, this paper reviews the theory and practice of RSI prevention including recent legal changes, and ergonomic and medical aspects. However, it argues that RSI is also a management and organizational problem which should be approached in terms of an explicit health and safety policy which refers to job design, awareness and training, and the consideration of alternatives to keyboard input.
