摘要

This article argues that information systems can attain the status of being an important, secondary strategic resource. The focus here is on how information systems can improve organizational performance by obtaining improved consistency between formulated strategy and implementation, improved quality of complex decision-making processes, and enhancement of organizational learning. How this can be attained is demonstrated through the design of a new system for credit evaluation in a Norwegian bank. Implications are highlighted.
