The Internet has emerged in the recent past as a dynamic medium for channeling transactions between customers and firms in virtual marketplace. In particular, the World Wide Web has emerged as a powerful new channel for supply chain, rendering many intermediaries obsolete, and radically revamping the value chain.The Internet is challenging the traditional supply chain structures that firms have employed to get goods and services to market. In addition, it is forcing firms to re-evaluate their value proposition to customers, and meet the challenges of more nimble rivals.In this article, the author discusses how Internet is being used in the management of various areas of supply chain.
