An associative search strategy for information retrieval

摘要

This paper extends Goffman's Indirect Method of Information Retrieval by suggesting a more flexible search strategy. The suggested strategy in its simplified version is more effective than the Boolean strategy used in existing information retrieval systems and can be implemented at comparable costs. Some of its features might further increase the effectiveness of information retrieval systems.
