Solution of convection–diffusion problems with nonequilibrium adsorption

In this paper, an efficient method for solving contaminant transport problem with diffusion and adsorption in nonequilibrium mode is introduced. The method is based on operator splitting approach where the solution of the transport problem is found in an analytical form and the diffusion problem is solved by finite volume method. Finally the system corresponding to nonequilibrium adsorption problem is transformed to one integral equation which is solved numerically using time discretization. Some numerical aspects of the problem are discussed and various results of numerical experiments are shown as well as a comparison to precise semi-analytical solution for special cases.
