An uncoupled numerical scheme for the equations of nonlinear one-dimensional thermoelasticity

We present a computationally uncoupled numerical scheme for the equations of nonlinear one-dimensional thermoelasticity by using the finite-element method for the spatial variables and an uncoupled difference scheme for the time variable. The existence and the uniqueness of approximate solutions are proved and the error estimate is established.
