摘要

A cognitive structuring intervention consisting of a videotaped introduction to Holland's model and a mastery test was presented to clients prior to the use of a computer-assisted career guidance system (DISCOVER) to enhance their ability to process information. Subjects' representation of the world-of-work, occupational certainty, and vocational identity served as dependent measures. Three groups were used to test the effects of the intervention: Group 1, Occupational Grouping Task, cognitive structuring, and DISCOVER; Group 2, Occupational Grouping Task and DISCOVER; and Group 3, DISCOVER only. Subjects in Group 1 who learned the Holland model became more alike in sorting 36 randomly selected occupations into groups and in specifying occupational choices. Those considering one or two occupations added alternatives while those considering five or more eliminated alternatives. DISCOVER alone enhanced subjects' vocational identity.
