Instructional applications of hypermedia: Functional features, limitations, and research issues

Hypermedia has enabled us to create a new instructional development and delivery environment. However, there are both theoretical and practical issues to be resolved and technical limitations to be overcome. To clarify the issues and limitations, the basic concept and database structures of hypermedia are briefly reviewed. Second, important functional requirements for the instructional application of hypermedia are described. Finally, several research issues that need to be examined in the application of hypermedia are proposed.
