摘要
Interlaced to progressive scan conversion is needed in advanced video systems to improve the visual quality of conventional TV pictures, and motion information is usually used in algorithm adapting to enhance the performance. In this paper, a new motion detection scheme for this conversion is proposed. This method combines frame difference test, spatial difference test, and test of special patterns. Thus, detection can be more precise at the area close to moving objects. Moreover, the thresholds are adjusted according to spatial variation so that the performance can be more stable. The behavior on different image patterns is also analyzed to evaluate the pros and cons. Simulation shows that edges of higher contrast or close to moving objects can be better preserved when conversion algorithms incorporate the proposed motion detection scheme.
