Medication ordering based on a predictive knowledge base

The medication ordering user interface of the pharmacy application in the HELP system has been enhanced by integrating an inference engine which analyzes a predictive knowledge base to suggest parameter values for drug orders. In this paper we describe the new system design of the pharmacy application, the frame-based structure of the knowledge base, and the tools developed for the management and evaluation of this knowledge base. The results of a test implementation are reported.
