Expert systems in laboratory medicine and pathology

摘要

This paper discusses the implementation of expert systems (ES) within the settings of laboratory medicine and anatomical pathology. Following a general discussion of ES, the information resource requirements of these pathology areas are addressed. The managerial issues associated with ES implementation in this environment are then investigated. Finally, results from a recent survey indicate a growing receptivity towards ES by pathologists and a promising outlook for their future development.
