MKS: An expert system shell for HIS environment

摘要

This paper describes an expert system shell especially suitable for integration into hospital information systems. The issue that the deeper level of the knowledge structure should be reached for the successful integration of medical expert systems or tool-systems into a HIS with rich data resource has been addressed. The main components of this shell and its implementation environment have been briefly introduced. The most important aspects of representing and processing the knowledge in this shell have been explained in detail. The inference mechanism adopted in this shell has also been described and some shortcomings or severe errors in some other expert systems or tools have been pointed out.
