An expert system for diagnosing problems in boiler operations

In this paper we describe an expert system for the diagnosis and repair of operation problems in steam boilers. We explain the knowledge engineering and the implementation processes followed in developing and deploying the system, including a cost/benefit analysis after using the system for some time. The system was developed by the Center for Artificial Intelligence at ITESM for CRYSEL, a textile plant of CYDSA Corporation.
