A framework for developing expert loading systems for product carriers

An Expert Loading System is an advisory system that produces a cargo allocation plan and a plan of operations for charging-discharging cargoes at each port of call. This paper proposes a framework for developing Expert Loading Systems for chemical product carriers. The paper follows a stratified approach describing such a system at the knowledge level, identifying the kinds of knowledge that it should exploit, and presenting in detail, the implementation of its knowledge base.
