SMART BRIDGE: Expert bridge classification system

摘要

SMART BRIDGE has been designed and built to fill a gap in the analysis function of the US military. While there are some very qualified bridge engineers associated with the military, there are not nearly enough to analyze every bridge that might be encountered. SMART BRIDGE can assist military personnel evaluate routes available for the movement of troops and equipment by computing the carrying capacities of each bridge on the route. This tool, usable by engineers with varying levels of expertise, determines the Military-Load Classification of bridges using various methods depending on the amount of information available. The tool has captured the complete requirements for bridge classification including: What data items are required, how to determine values for these data items, how each item interacts with the others, and how to calculate classification values.
