摘要

Software to support military planning must integrate information from a wide variety of sources to address a number of different types of tasks. A hybrid system has been developed which integrates combat engineering analytical decision models, a tactical database, a geographic information system, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications to support the planning and execution of countermobility tasks by combat engineers. The use of multiple AI components embedded in a large system provides a means of representing expertise for several different types of tasks thereby allowing the system to respond to changing battlefield situations. The AI applications include a genetic algorithm application for scheduling engineering tasks and knowledge-based models for courses of action (COA) analysis. A general method for generation of hypertext explanations has been developed to summarize and present explanations of the results of the COA analysis.
