Extracting a core structure from heterogeneous information network using h-subnet and meta-path strength

• Meta-path strength is proposed to measure the link strength of attribute edges in a heterogeneous information network (HIN).

• The h-subnet extraction method for weighted complex networks is extended to extract a heterogeneous core structure from an HIN based on meta-path strength.

• The extracted h-subnet contains less than 1% of the nodes and edges of the original HIN and yet can cover different features of at least one of several other core structures.
