Closing gaps in edges and surfaces

摘要

A new method is presented which robustly deals with errors in edge detector output. Based on the concept of a chamfer map, the method closes gaps while preserving edge structure and maintains surface connectedness correctly. The technique has been implemented in two and three dimensions and is compared with published morphological techniques.
