Automatic segmentation of hand-wrist radiographs

摘要

This paper describes a method for the automatic segmentation of hand-wrist radiographs. The method consists of region growing and region merging stages. A technique was developed for region merging which combines both edge and region boundary information. A rule based bone extraction stage then follows which labels the extracted regions as bone or background.
