Information and information processing structure

摘要

This paper presents a formalism for information structure and information processing structure in large scale information systems. It is an extension of Information Algebra and was developed to provide a procedure for evaluating capabilities of existing Generalized Data Base Management Systems as well as for implementing advanced features in an ideal system. The information structure model may become a helpful tool in designing and evaluating Data Description Languages and their processors, while the information processing model may provide a guide for designing and evaluating Data Manipulating Languages and their processors. The model is compared with another formalism, the Relational Data Base model.
