摘要

The importance of evaluating information systems (IS) projects for management decisionmaking purposes is emphasized. Cost-benefit analysis of IS projects should be comprehensive, that is, based on all factors of potential relevance to the decision-making process and not based only on economic efficiency arguments. The issues of risks and uncertainties and the profound problems they raise—from both theoretical and practical points of view—with respect to the measurements of projects' worth to the organization are tackled. The increasing importance of the evaluation problem to the IS executives and practitioners indicates the need for more active research in the area.
