Parameters Analysis of Sample Entropy, Permutation Entropy and Permutation Ratio Entropy for RR Interval Time Series

• A novel variant of information entropy named permutation ratio entropy (PRE) was employed to identify three typical ECG RR interval series.

• The PRE is more correctly reflect data mutation than other entropy methods i.e. sample entropy (SmpE) and permutation entropy (PE).

• The PRE can more correctly yield higher entropy values for the normal sinus rhythm (NSR) RR interval series than that for the congestive heart failure (CHF) and arrhythmia (ARR) RR interval series.
