Analytic models of water loss in sprinkler irrigation

In this paper it is shown that a feasible explanation for the extremely high observed water losses in sprinkler irrigation systems in the United States Southwest is loss due to wind blown droplets. This phenomena has been adequately demonstrated experimentally and in practice on the Texas high plains, but would be just as much a problem in any area of the world that irrigates via overhead sprinkler systems.
