摘要

This paper surveys past and present implementations, outlines advantages, and raises critical issues and cautions regarding computer-based personality testing. In addition, methods are presented for increasing the reliability of computer-based scoring and interpretation. These include introducing a variety of consistency evaluations and implementing multivariate profile classification strategies. Branching strategies are described, including those designed to identify which of several dimensions of personality are most descriptive of a person, as well as the traditional use of branching for more accurately appraising a person's location on a single dimension. Future possibilities for computer-based testing are outlined.
