CCAE: Cross-field categorical attributes embedding for cancer clinical endpoint prediction

•A novel framework is proposed to learn representation from categorical variables in EHR.•An RNN is adopted to capture the semantic relevance among multi-order representations.•Results show that our method works well on real-world cancer clinical endpoint prediction task.
